Kenya Defence Staff College Visits Ghana

17-24 March 2018.   A twenty-six member delegation from the Republic of Kenya Defence Staff College has visited Ghana from 17 March to 24 March 2018, to familiarize themselves with the Socio – Political, Economic and Military organizations of Ghana.

The delegation was made up of Staff and Students of Kenya Defence Staff College with representatives from seven other countries headed by the Assistant Commandant of the Kenya Defence Staff College, Brigadier General Wachira Simon Mureithi.

The Ghana Air Force mounted a quarter guard at the Command gate in honour of the Assistant Commandant of the Kenya Defence Staff College. He was then received by the Chief of Staff (COS), Rear Admiral Beick-Baffour on behalf of the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa.

They were briefed on the aims, roles, scope, organization and functions of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC), the Air Force Base Accra and the Eastern Naval Command at their respective Headquarters, College, Base and Commands.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Defence, Honourable Dominic Nitiwul.  They also visited the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration as well as the Ministry of Finance where they were briefed on core values, roles, vision and mission, structure, objectives and activities of the ministries.

Again, the twenty-six member delegation visited the Volta River Authority (Akosombo), the Cocoa Processing Company (Tema), the Kakum National Park (Cape Coast) and the Elmina Castle (Elmina) where they were educated on the importance, and the historical backgrounds of these places.
