The Queen of Denmark, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II has paid a courtesy call on the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House on Thursday, 23 November, 2017.
This forms part of her two (2) days official visit to Ghana. Her Majesty Margrethe II is the first Danish queen to visit Ghana and she aims to strengthen the already existing relationship between Ghana and Demark and discuss the transition of Ghana from aid and assistance to a trade and investment country.
The President in his welcome address expressed gratitude for her support to Ghana over the years. He added that, the transition of Ghana to a trade and investment country was in line with the country’s policy of economic growth through business, investment and trade and hope that the visit of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II would form the basis of it.
According to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Denmark had been a solid ally and partner of Ghana in many areas including sanitation, energy and education.
Present at the short ceremony were the Chief of Staff, Honorable Akosua Frema Osei Opare, the Secretary to the President Nana Asante Bediatuo and other Danish government officials including the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Anders Samuelsen, and the Minister for Environment and Food, Esben Lunde Larsen.
