8 September 2017.    A tape-cutting ceremony took place on Friday 8 September 2017 at Military Academy and Training School in Teshie to commission a 10-unit Other Ranks accommodation block for some personnel of the command.

The MATS Commandant, Major Gen William Omane Agyekum, in his address said the renovation of the building has been necessitated by the current Ghana Armed Forces high command policy of ensuring that personnel of the Armed Forces are properly accommodated so that they can have a sound mind to undertake their duties professionally.

He noted leaders of institutions should not only interested in celebrating bigger achievements, but should be also be interested in smaller achievements in order for the command to be encourage to do more to improve upon the state of properties at the command.

He entreated the personnel who would be occupying the rooms to cultivate good maintenance culture so that the blocks will able to withstand the test of time. The commandant expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the military high command for providing the fund for the project and also thanked all for making the project a success.

He paid a glowing tribute to the former commandant, Rear Admiral Akoto Bonsu under whose tenure the renovation project started and said the command was grateful to him for undertaking such a good initiative.
