4 September 2017. 1 Signal Regiment has held a closing ceremony for 15 young soldiers who successfully completed the Unit’s Continuation Training Course 2-16 on Monday 4 September, 2017 at Burma Camp.
The aim for the course was to build on the training received at the Army Recruit Training School (ARTS) to equip the soldiers with the knowledge and skills required to discharge their duties with professionalism, loyalty and dedication to the unit, Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and Ghana as a whole.
Commanding Officer (CO) of the Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Azera, stated that the Twelve (12) week training course saw students trained in drill, minor tactics, voice procedure, map reading, Military law among others. He advised the trainees to desire to crave for more information.
He also thanked the Commander Support Services Brigade for his immeasurable support for the 1 signal unit and the instructors for their commitment during the course.
The Guest of honour for the occasion, Brigadier General Francis Ofori in his remarks stated that the training was to upgrade the knowledge of the young soldiers and also improve their professional competence as well as engender teamwork.
He advised the soldiers that the highest standard of commitment, discipline and professionalism would be expected of them at all times and that their loyalty to GAF and the country in general should remain unquestionable. He added that they had no right to sexually exploit anybody irrespective of their position and that they should be observant and abide by the rules.
He congratulated the soldiers for successfully completing their continuation training and also commended the CO, Officers, Instructors and Staff for their dedication and hard work throughout the period of training.
